Obituary of William Joseph

Bill passed away peacefully with his wife Deirdre and daughter Patricia by his side.

Bill was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated to Winnipeg on February 8, 1963.  He was employed at the University of Manitoba as a painter, then foreman of the Paint Shop and Project Coordinator before retiring on December 31, 1999.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Deirdre; daughter Patricia; brothers-in-law Paul Fagan (Patti), Adrian Fagan (Lynda), John Fagan; sister-in-law Gay; niece Carol Bruce (Doug); nephews Mervyn (Lois), Michael (June), Richard (Ellen), Nicholas; friend Eileen Fagan; and many great nieces and nephews in Canada, Northern Ireland and England.

He also leaves to mourn his passing Joan and Pat Tierney of Dublin, Ireland and Thomas and Gina Nolan of Alicante, Spain.

He was predeceased by his parents Philip and Emma; brothers Philip, Dennis and Mervyn; sisters-in-law Ruby and Vera; and Gloria Bailey.

Bill loved singing and sang with the Irish Tavern Singers.  He was a member of the Winnipeg Irish Association for many years. 

Bill enjoyed eleven(11) winters in Mesa, Arizona.

He was so happy when he was able to attend the PRIME program at the Misericordia Hospital where he made so many friends.  Special thanks to Candace and her team from PRIME.  Your care and support to us was unwavering.  Also, thank you to the Palliative Care and 5E Medicine Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital.

As per Bill’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Bill’s name may be made to either:
