Obituary of Shirley Elizabeth Streib

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Elizabeth Streib (nee Cann) on May 14, 2024.

She was predeceased by her husband Ron Streib.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Kathleen, Ron, Caroline and son-in-law Wes.

She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Jordan, Riley (Jamie), Shannon (Michelle), Aaron and Madison (Tyler).

Shirley was born and raised in Winnipeg. She lived most of her life in Elmwood and later in North Kildonan. She worked for Woolco for many years and she was proud to serve as an educational assistant at Elmwood High School in the Winnipeg School Division until retirement.

In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed figure skating, bowling and bike riding. She was a very social person and always looked forward to visits and a cup of coffee with her sister-in-law, Alice Miller as well as her friends, Olga and Barb.

She loved listening to music and could often be heard singing along, especially to Elvis songs. Shirley’s favourite tv show was “Dancing with the Stars” and she rarely missed an episode.

Her children and grandchildren will find comfort in wonderful memories of her cheering them on at sporting events, enjoying her amazing Nanaimo Bars and hosting fun Christmas and Easter dinners.

Shirley bravely faced the obstacles in her life with great fortitude, tenacity and a smile. She lived the last chapter of her life at River East PCH and was well cared for and supported by the staff at Beacon Hill PCH.

The family will be holding a private celebration of Shirley’s life.
