Obituary of Jim Kurtz
Peacefully on May 26, 2024 with the love of his life, Renee and daughters Tammy and Candace by his side, Jim, affectionately known as Jimmy Boy, passed away at age 80.
Jim spent many years working in the family floral business, Valley Flowers, and finished his career working at various City of Winnipeg golf courses which he truly loved. Golf was a life-long passion of his and as Jim liked to do most things in life a little different, he was a rare cross-handed golfer. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 57 years Renee, and daughters Tammy (Dennis) and Candace (Gerald), as well as grandchildren Paris, Ella, Sydney and Spencer and of course the dogs, Gizmo and Finn who he spoiled with treats.
Jim is survived by his brother Bryan, sister-in-law Heather, brother-in-law Brian, and their families. He is predeceased by his parents Jack and Ede, in-laws Rene and Stephanie, brother Richard and sister-in-law Mary Ann.
Jim lived for his family and making sure they were always taken care of. Jim had a huge heart and would give you the shirt off his back. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and he loved spending time with them watching and hearing all about their sporting activities. He was always interested and loved watching all the things they were most passionate about from dance recitals to hockey and soccer games and he loved to reward them with a few dollars spending money and a sweet treat or two.
Jim was most happy when he was doing things for others, running errands, chauffeuring his children and grandchildren around and of course, breakfast and lunches with his many friends. Jim was a foodie before a foodie was a thing - he was an original. It ran in his family.
It’s never goodbye. It’s until we meet again and we know you will have scoped out all the great places for us to eat.
A private celebration of life will be held.
