Obituary of Linda Mae Reinsch

After hearing from her last grandchild, Mom passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at Health Science Center on May 31 just before midnight.

She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three daughters Roslynn Anseeuw (Danny), Sharon McCaughan, Tanis Reinsch (Chris), and spouse Larry Reinsch, seven grandchildren Quinn, Cale (Emily), Zac (Julianne) in Manitoba and Chase (Jamie), Sydney, Bryce, and Gage McCaughan from Alberta. 

Linda will also be greatly missed by her brother Ken (Marg) Schade, sister Noreen (Vic) Demoskoff, brothers/sisters-in-law Joan Brooks, Ed (Therese) Reinsch, Winston Reinsch and Ron (Eileen) Sand. She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Linda was predeceased by her parents Robert Schade, Irene Stewart, sisters Myrna Sand, Adele Schade, Wanda Schade, mother in-law Hilda Reinsch, father in-law August Reinsch, brother in-law Dr. Theron Brooks III and great niece MacKenzie Sand and great nephew Morgan Johnson.

Our mom was born in Winnipeg on April 17th 1945.  She was raised on a farm in Starbuck, MB with her five siblings. A woman with many talents, she was a waitress and cook, dental assistant, and shortly after marrying Larry at the age of 19, they moved to a farm west of Brunkild. Mom and dad created a family and built a successful farm. At the age of 35 she added a career in hairdressing. 

Mom was a devoted farmer spending countless hours driving grain truck and combine. Her hard work and dedication were evident in every harvest meal she prepared. 

Mom generously shared her time and talents with the Brunkild community, volunteering at fall suppers, theater events and talent nights. She also taught Sunday school and coached baseball.

We all knew mom’s competitive spirit. Whether it was baseball, curling, belgium bowling, or playing with her grandkids, she was determined to win!

Mom always looked forward to lefse and perogie making days with her sisters and in-laws, and she was delighted to pass on the tradition to her daughters and granddaughter, Quinn

Mom loved carving out time during the busy farming season to plan camping, fishing, and water skiing trips with her family and her siblings' families. Many memories and hilarious stories were created during these outings. She also had a passion for socializing and traveling, whether to local events or international destinations such as Hawaii, Cuba, Paris, Cape Cod, and snowbird retreats in Palm Springs, Phoenix, and Texas. Mom was always ready for an adventure! She was absolutely thrilled to experience her first—and unfortunately last—cruise with her daughters, cherishing every memory they made together.

Mom's greatest passion throughout her life was ensuring her family's happiness. She found pure joy in nurturing a warm and loving home where everyone felt welcome and cherished. Her resilience, generosity, compassion, and humor left a lasting impact on her siblings, spouse, daughters, in-laws, grandchildren, friends, and the entire Brunkild community.

Mom, you are deeply loved and terribly missed.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11am on Saturday June 8, 2024 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Brunkild with lunch to follow at the Brunkild Hall.
