Obituary of Deanne Joy Morse

Born on April 24, 1933 passed away on May 30,2024. At the age of 91. 

Five weeks after celebrating her 91^st. birthday while hosting her regular Friday Night “Happy Hour” with all of her 18 children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and spouses, along with her niece Kelly Morse Mom passed away peacefully at the Carman Memorial Hospital. 

Deanne was predeceased by her husband Marvin (Joe) of 32 years and left behind her children Bob (Allison), Mark, and Grant (Barb), grandchildren Tyler, Jan (Michelle), Whitney, Lauren (Matt), Lexi (Alex), and Jillian, and great-grandchildren Casey, Ellis and Harlow. 

Deanne will be missed by her sister-in-law Louise Morse. 

Deanne was predeceased by her parents Gabriel (Barney) and Millie Mollot, her brother Grant Mollot and her stepmother Gilberte (Jill) Mollot. Brother and Sister- in- laws Ron and Cindy Burns, Alan and Lillian Burns, Harold and Maisie Shirtliffe, Eugene (Zack) Morse, Leroy (Buck) and Doreen Morse and Odiel and Doreen Dusessoy. 

Mom was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and spent her early years in Fannystelle, Manitoba. At a very young age of six she lost her mother and brother in a tragic house fire. Shortly after she and her grandmother moved to Winnipeg to live where she later attended, boarded, and graduated school from St. Mary’s Academy. She went on to graduate business school in Winnipeg. She met and later married Dad on October 22,1955 and shortly thereafter moved to the Morse family farm in Starbuck, Manitoba. In the early years they spent many weekends and summer vacations at “Daddy’s” cottage at Pelican Lake and later with Dad and kids in tow visiting Grampa and Grandma (Jill) in Brandon in summer and Palm Springs, California in winter. After Dad’s passing in 1987 Mom was extremely close to and spent many winters with Grandma (Jill) in Palm Springs. She had a very special bond with all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When the school bus dropped the kids off after school the first stop was always Grannie’s before heading home. 

Mom was very active in the community of Starbuck She worked and served on many boards and committees and was instrumental in the building of the community centre in the early seventies. She founded the first Nursery School Program in Starbuck.  

Mom relied on Cancer Care Manitoba for many years of treatment and would like to thank Dr. V. Banerji, who she considered a saint, for her unwavering support. She was also grateful for the care she received for the time spent at Carman Memorial Hospital and would like to thank all of the staff there. 

In keeping with Mom’s wishes a final private family “Happy Hour “will be held at the farm at a later date.
