Obituary of Shawn Roelof Krist
Shawn was predeceased by his father Ron and his son Maurice Joseph (MJ).
Shawn is survived by his mother Marge; sister Sherri; big brother (BIL) Larry Kennedy; brother Kevin (Desiree); girlfriend Candace and her children whom he cherished as his own; as well as his daughter Brianna; grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great niece and numerous other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.
Shawn was born and raised in Elmwood and was known by many different names; to his father he was Boo, sister he was PITA and his friends knew him as Casper.
Shawn was a whirlwind of energy, leaving a trail of light and love wherever he went. He was always lovingly referred to as a “tornado”. He lived for fast-paced environments and utter chaos. He didn't live your average blue collar lifestyle but he had a big heart.
He had also embarked on an unforgettable journey across Canada with his girlfriend Candace to work with the carnival, where he got to experience many new sights. During this time, he took the opportunity to reconnect with his beloved daughter Brianna which brought him so much joy.
Shawn enjoyed attending concerts of many genres and was happiest spending time with loved ones, whether it was flying kites or just kicking back by a bonfire with a cold beer in hand roasting marshmallows and hotdogs. He loved to freehand draw, tattoo and build models as he was a talented artist. He was always sharing his artwork with family and friends. Upon his passing, the most requested item of his has been a piece of his art.
His presence brought laughter and comfort to those around him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to Manitoba Underdogs in Shawn's honour.
A Celebration of Shawn's Life will be held on September 15, 2024 at the Chalmers Community Centre, 480 Chalmers Avenue, 1:00pm to 4:00 pm. All who knew and loved Shawn are welcome to attend and share their memories.
