Obituary of Donald Geoffrey Robinson

Donald Geoffrey Robinson, born on July 26, 1934, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024, in the loving hands of his wife Lydia after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

He had endless love and devotion for his wife of 62 years, Lydia. He cherished his time with her and had full admiration for her fortitude, strength, and compassion.

As a father, he loved to laugh! He loved practical jokes and keeping us on our toes. His quick wit remained a part of him until the end. His daughter Lissa (Garth), son Trevor are forever grateful for orange floats during bingo night and treats before dinner. His love for his children was unwavering.

Don was the biggest champion for his grandchildren Kyle (Melissa), Emily and Nicholas. He took great pride in their achievements and made himself available for talk time. He was always ready with his creative story telling or on the sidelines cheering for his grandchildren.

Don was survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins who he adored dearly.  They had a very special place in his heart.

Don was very passionate about cars and was well-known and loved in the Winnipeg automobile industry.  His face would light up with enthusiasm when he talked about cars as an owner/operator of several different shops.

Don had an incredible gift for connecting with people. He could listen deeply with understanding, compassion, and a knowing smile. We were truly blessed for his ability to be present in the moment making you feel like you were the most important person in his life.

The moment Don was born, he had a close relationship with St. Alphonsus Church. From his life events, baptism, schooling, and wedding to his active participation as an altar boy and then an usher, religion was a big part of his life.

Don’s favorite time of year was summer when he would be out in the yard enjoying the beautiful flowers and building relationships with the squirrels. He had a gentle way of creating a comfortable space for even the smallest of creatures.

Special thanks to the incredible staff of Concordia Hospital 3W, the Home Care staff that took care of Don between hospital visits for their compassion and care that they showed Don and his family during this difficult time.

A funeral will take place at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 3rd at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers consider donations to CancerCare, the Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
