Obituary of Sharron Mary West
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Sharron West in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on September 17, 2024, at the age of 78.
Sharron dedicated her life to caring for others, beginning her journey in nursing in 1967, graduating with her psychiatric nursing diploma from Brandon University. She earned her nursing diploma in 1974 and later obtained her Bachelor of Nursing in 1991, becoming a skilled psychological nurse known for her compassion and dedication.
Sharron’s career took her across the globe, including a rewarding position at a children’s hospital in Saudi Arabia. After returning to Canada, she settled in Fort Frances, Ontario for a few years. She then moved back to Manitoba, buying a lakefront cottage in Thompson, where she embraced the beauty of lake life and cold winters. In 2007, she made Winnipeg Beach her home, where she continued to find joy in her passions.
A lover of art, Sharron spent countless hours exploring galleries and immersing herself in creative endeavors. She was also an avid quilter and a talented craftswoman. Christmas held a special place in her heart, filled with warmth and traditions that she lovingly shared with her family and friends.
Sharron was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and dedicated her time to volunteering at Gimli Hospital. In 2018, she triumphed over breast cancer, demonstrating her strength and resilience.
Sharron’s spirit, creativity, and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
