Obituary of George Watson Norton
George Watson Norton, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, rock musician and engineer, passed away on November 10, 2024, in Brandon, Manitoba, at the age of 81. Born on November 8, 1943, in Wallsend, Northumberland, England, George was the cherished son of Tom and Mary Norton.
He married Eleanor in 1990 and together they shared many wonderful years. George's life was marked by his passion for music and engineering which he pursued with dedication and talent. He had a passion for premier league European football, particularly Newcastle United and anyone who played against Manchester United.
George was predeceased by his mother, father, brother Tom, and his daughter Beverly. He leaves behind his loving wife, Eleanor, daughters Cheryl Norton Porter and Pattie Cunningham, sons Peter Cunningham (Tara) and Tim Inkster (Toby), sister-in-law, June Norton, nephew Tom Norton, niece, Melanie Carroll, grandchildren Tamara Buckberrough (John), Marie Cunningham, Tmothy Inkster (Chelsea) Courtney Inkster, Drew Cunningham (Caitlin), Mykle Blagden, Jessica Ackabee, 10 grandchildren in England, many great grandchildren (most in the UK) and a legacy of cherished memories.
George's warmth, creativity, sense of humour, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His contributions to music and telecommunications engineering, as well as his unwavering support for his family, will be remembered fondly.
A celebration of life for George was held at the Discovery Center on Saturday November 23.
