Randall Miller

Obituary of Randall William Miller

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Randall Miller, beloved brother, Uncle, partner and friend.

Randy is survived by his sister Maureen, brother Terry and sister-in-law Judy, brother Ron and sister-in-law Joanne; nieces Jennifer (Keith), Christal (Andrew), Kimberley (Jim) and nephew Daniel (Blake) as well as great-nieces Jordan and Joey, great-nephew Kaelen and many cousins. He is lovingly remembered by his sweetheart Joan Roberts. He was predeceased by his wife Yvonne.

Randy grew up in Elmwood and lived in Winnipeg for most of his life, except for a brief stint in Vancouver when he and his wife Yvonne ventured west.

After high school, Randy realized his dream of becoming a truck driver just like his Dad. Starting small, he did short hauls in Winnipeg, gradually moving to the big rigs as he travelled the country. For several years before he retired, Randy and his work partner drove the mail run from Winnipeg to Toronto and back for Arnold Brothers.

Randy was an avid sports fan. In his youth, he played baseball and as an adult loved bowling and curling. His favourite teams to watch were the Toronto Blue Jays, the Winnipeg Jets and especially his beloved Blue Bombers. He was loyal to them through thick and thin.

Meeting and being with people was one of Randy’s great joys. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming with a heart of gold and a sweetness about him. As a result, he made friends easily wherever he went.

In his later years, Randy had many health challenges which eventually led him to live at Concordia Place. In a short period of time, he knew everyone on his floor, staff and residents alike. At 74, he even started a new romance with Joan who became his sweetheart and enriched the time he spent there.

No service will take place. A family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

The family would like to send heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Concordia Place who looked after Randy so well. Many thanks also to the wonderful staff at St. Boniface Hospital.
