Mom made all her grandchildren and great grandchildren feel special. She was dearly loved by all.
Predeceased by her parents Roland and Aileen Beattie; brother George Beattie; husband Oscar Bylo; son-in-law Bruce Symbol; grandson Steven Rodgers; and her first husband Russell Cummings.
As a single parent, Ruth raised her six daughters on her own. Mom worked several jobs to give her daughters the best life she could. She worked at MTS for 22 years retiring as a supervisor in Operator Services. She was greatly admired by her co-workers and had a strong work ethic which she passed down to her daughters.
Mom loved children, sports especially bowling, hockey and baseball and she loved animals especially her pet dogs and cats - too many to mention but most memorable were Brandy, Bear, Bandit and Abbey!
Mom often sacrificed sleep in order to be a cheerleader at her daughters' sporting events and found time to be a Sunday School teacher and a Brownie leader with Girl Guides of Canada.
In 1995 Mom moved to Killarney to care for her mother. While living there, in addition to volunteering at the Killarney Thrift store, keeping track of the scores for the bowling lanes, attending the United Church, Mom also dog sat for many friends in Killarney usually charging only $5 per day!!
After being single for many years, she fell in love with Oscar Bylo of Killarney and they married in 1998. With open arms she happily welcomed Oscar’s family into her life. Sadly, Oscar passed away in 2013.
In 2016 Mom moved to Ile Des Chenes to live with 3 of her daughters in a private condo building.
By 2018 mom started showing signs of Parkinson’s. It was late onset but the symptoms developed quickly. Requiring round the clock care, mom moved to a PCH in 2021. A huge thank you to the aids and nurses at Vista Park Lodge for their loving care of Mom.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can may be made to Parkinson Canada donate@parkinson.ca or Killarney United Church www.killarneyunitedchurch.ca or a charity of your choice.
Rest in peace Mom – know that you were dearly loved and will be missed. Thank you for being such as strong role model for all of us.
