Recently, before I heard this sad news, I was asked at work to think about a mentor who had a big impact on me. I reflected on my first coaches in the 1990’s, including Mr. Marquardson. His support, dedication, encouragement, and the way he challenged us is memorable and cherished. I hadn’t realized how extensive his work was behind-the-scenes to give so many kids the opportunity to be part of a team. Very inspiring. My siblings and parents have very fond memories as well. Our condolences to his family.

We are saddened to hear the news of Mr. Marquardson. He had an impact in the life of Tynes family (Jocelyn, Cheryl, Tracy, and Deborah) as our basketball coach. When we reminisce about high school inevitability Mr. Marquardson name comes up. He is that memorable! His coaching instilled a strong work ethic, commitment and respect that we have carried throughout our adult lives. Not only did our parents have high expectations for us so did Coach Marquardson. He was always encouraging us to improve and his favorite adage was, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”. We will always remember him with fondness and gratitude because we truly believe he saw resiliency in our family for that we are grateful. Mr. Marquardson you will always be remembered by the Tynes family. To his family you are blessed to have had him as a husband, father, grandfather, and sibling. In his memory video one can tell he lived a full life surrounded in love which he so deserved. Tynes Family

I'm glad to contribute to this fund in celebration of Larry's great work. He was my coach when I played for the Sisler Spartans in 1970 and 1971. He made me a better player, a better student, and a better person. I carry his lessons with me to this day

Mr. Marquardson had a monumental effect of my life and many others. He was one of the teachers at Sisler that encouraged me to be involved in sport, not as an athlete, but a manager and trainer. His guidance and mentorship led me to my career as a physiotherapist and athletic therapist. More than that, he passed along the importance of dedication and commitment. To this day, whenever we met, I never called him Larry, but always Mr. Marquardson out of my unending respect for him. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Marquardson and their family. Larry's warm smile and welcoming manner was my introduction to Sargent Park School. As I walked past his room on my first day, Larry stepped out of his classroom to introduce himself and welcome me to the school staff - I will never forget how much that gesture impressed me! Well, that was just the way Larry was, always warm, smiling, laughing. You will be missed.

One of a kind - loving, caring and passionate is what I have felt about Mr. Marquardson. I will cherish the many conversations we had during my time at Sargent Park on and off the court about family, basketball, music, even taping up my ankles during injuries. I wouldn't have become the player I was without you in my corner. My sincere condolences to the family. May he Rest in Peace.

Larry was my Freshman Basketball coach back in 1973 at Sisler High School and instrumental in starting up a Pilot Phys-ed program. He left quite the impression on many of us at that time and has stuck with us, which we are thankful for. Larry was not only a Phys-ed Teacher at Sisler but also an Alumni of Sisler and played on the Football team along with my brother at linebacker. He will be truly missed. My condolences to all his family.

What a wonderful man. He met me at Sargent Park with a warm greeting. He took me and some other Sargent newbies for lunch to welcome us and help us join the SP Family.
