My condolences. I was so surprised and sad to hear of Earl`s passing. He was a terrific guy. I knew him over 50 years. He leaves a void for sure on his family and many friends past and present.

We share in your sadness Cathy.
I remember when Earl was the side-by-side boyfriend! I'm so happy that you were able to share so many memories and decades together.
I quote him sometimes, "Good kids find the good kids and bad kids find the bad kids, no matter what school.
Sending love, Steph and Randy

I met Earl in 1971 as a first year Phys. Ed. teacher. Our friendship developed during our monthly P. E. meetings and competitions with our teams. It was so nice to read Ron and Rory's tributes. Earl really enjoyed coaching. We continued to be good friends and had many adventures on several long canoe trips along with Garry Grubert, Jim Pascoe and Jimmy Cummings.
Earl was truly a unique person which was appealing to me and his many friends. His boisterous public persona was different than his reserved and caring side which as a close friend I benefited from. I boarded at his spacious home on Ruskin row for a year after separating from my wife. I couldn't have asked for a better friend or a better place to be at that time. Earl had a great sense of humor and definitely liked to entertain others with his jokes and sayings; he liked having fun.
Although we hadn't spent much time together the last few years Earl was one of those friends you could pick up with exactly where you left off; in other words, a real and special friend.
I will miss you Earl! My sincere condolences to Cathy, Nick, Paul and other family members.
I do hope we get a chance to get together for a celebration of his life. There are lots of great stories to share.

Sad sad news about Earl's passing.
What a dedicated coach! He coached us in every sport but basketball was his favorite. Earl put so much time in for his players. I was always amazed at the hundreds of hours and countless nights/weekends he gave up to coach his players. I remember how much fun it was to go to Stevenson Jr. High and what a great time we had at tournaments/games with Coach Allen. He guided us to championships in every sport and also, in his own way, taught us about life. He made it fun for us.
Hey, remember his red convertable?
Earl had a huge impact early on in my life by advising me to go to Westwood Collegiate to play basketball. I remember how difficult it was to leave my friends. I trusted him and made the decision to go because he said it would be the best for me to develop as a player. Thanks so much for the great advice Earl.
When I coached, I opened up the gym every morning at 7:30 and went to a lot of tournaments because that is what Coach Allan did for us.
Thank you Coach for your endless time and dedication to sports and your players.
Miss you Earl, RIP

Where do I start? Earl was not only our coach, but he was also a mentor and a great friend. Coach Allen taught us so many things like confidence and dedication which stuck with most of us our whole lives, something we have coached and passed on to others. I was very fortunate to be on Earl’s championship teams at Stevenson Jr High in the 70’s but most importantly, I had the opportunity to spend special memories fishing with him at Grand beach and Footprint lake later on in life. There are so many stories I could share including the jokes he told us which always made us laugh and the coaching style he had that was unmatched by any coach I’ve ever had. Rest in peace Earl, I will miss you

My sincere condolences Cathy. I will always remember Earl for his unique sense of humor and his positive attitude toward life. When he asked you " How are you today?", he never accepted an answer other than "Great or wonderful".

Dear Cathy,
Earl was a very good neighbour and friend and we shared a passion for looking after our yards. We would be out cutting grass or Earl would have me trimming trees in your yard. We were very fortunate to know him. We will miss his humor and sometimes silly jokes. I was fortunate to go on a 3 day fishing trip with him. He brought so much gear that I thought we were going for a month. We miss him and we share in your loss.
