I offer my sincere condolences to Brian's family, friends and all who loved him. His kind heart to others moved many. He left his mark on the heart of Gimli in the most wonderful ways. My thoughts are with all who loved Brian at this time. I hope it is of comfort to know Brian will always be remembered fondly for his profound contribution, friendship, thoughtfulness and generosity to his community. One can never forget a man who dared to love so much. May he rest in peace.

To the Skakum family. I am so sorry to hear of Brian’s passing. Although I had not seen him in many years, we did keep in touch with occasional phone calls. Brain was one of the kindest, and most thoughtful people I have ever know. He cared deeply for his family and friends, thoroughly enjoying get together and celebrations. He never failed to come up with the most well thought out gifts for others on his list. Although he faced challenges in his life, he never gave up. Always ready to try one more time, his determination was admirable. He never lost his quirky sense of humour and continued to come up with the most oddball jokes. It is a comfort, however small, to know that he had found meaningful work and a caring community in his final years. You left us way too soon Brian. I hope that you are at peace where very you are.

Always a class act. That was Brian. He always cared for others and enjoyed EBN for that reason. He was intelligent well spoken and informative. We used to exchange useless information and laugh so much. He was such a gentle soul to everyone. Goodbye old friend. RIP

Won't be the same not seeing you at E.B.N . A good person, friend and co-worker. All who knew you must be feeling the suddenness and sadness of hearing you had to go. I know I am. Later Brian...

I was very saddened to hear of Brian’s passing. A warm and caring soul. My memories go back to the days at the farm when my Aunty Judy would bring little Brian out for the day !
Years later, I would see Brian on weekends when I would be visiting at a cottage two doors away. I always preferred to be at Brian’s with his hospitality and great group of friends that would come out for the weekends.
On weekends when Brian had no company, I realized he wasn’t eating. I initially made him a kubasa sandwich and took it over because that was all I brought out to Gimli. He enjoyed it So much, from that time on, I would always bring him a ring of kubasa !
I looked forward to surprising him and had the pleasure of how appreciative he was !
