Amanda Guiboche

Obituary of Amanda Nicole Guiboche

It is with immense sadness that we inform our family and friends of our loss. Amanda Nicole Guiboche, born March 1, 1993, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the young age of 27 years. Amanda fought an extremely hard battle at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Amanda will be always loved and forever missed by her mother Melanie; grandpa Clifford; her siblings Deanna, Alyssa, Justin; and her nieces and nephews Kiona, Sena, Sire, Everleigh and Kingsley. Family was everything to Amanda. There are so many wonderful memories of our family gatherings. Almost every week, from the beginning of May until the end of October, there was a family outing planned. Going to the beach, fishing and picnics, were our favourites. In Spring, Amanda was eager to prepare our picnic and beach bags for the next family adventure. Amanda made absolutely incredible meals and desserts. She spent endless hours expressing her love for her family through her cooking skills. “Mom, can I make dinner?”, she would say then would hand a note with at least a dozen items that was needed to go purchase. Some of our favourites were Mushroom Risotto, Moussaka and of course, the dozens of appetizers, garnishes and sauces for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The happiest moments in her life, were time spent with her nieces and nephews. Amanda always had one of them in her arms. She had a special bond with her love Kiona, whom she helped raise. Auntie Mandy was the fun one! The kids knew they would hear an “of course” when they asked her to read, play a game, colour a picture or wrestle. Amanda was creative. She enjoyed easter egg painting, making baby shower decorations, pumpkin carving, Christmas cookie decorating and crafts with the children. Amanda made each of her family a special gift, we will cherish forever. She learned, by watching YouTube videos, how to make lanyards, lighter cases, doillies and dream catchers for Sena and Everleigh. Amanda had great attention to detail, re-doing over and over again, until it was perfect. Amanda took great pride in a clean, well-organized home. Never needing to be asked, she saw what needed to be done and just did it. She was always the one jumping in to do the dishes, when invited for dinner. The weekly family dinners were a favourite of Amanda’s. Our usual Wednesday meals with the whole family were not fancy and often chaotic. Almost every week, we had four generations together, eating, talking, laughing and watching Grandpa take another win in Crib. Amanda was a beautiful person inside and out. Material worth was not important to her. Life was about who you had, not what you had! Amanda was thoughtful, taking time to care for others. It may have been as simple as making Grandpa his beef barley soup or caring for a sick child when they could not go to Daycare. The little things in life mattered to her. Amanda fought very, very hard for her life while at St. Boniface Hospital. We appreciate the extremely advanced medical care she received, but almost as important, the kindness and caring shown to Amanda by the doctors, nurses and staff at the Intensive Care Cardiac Surgery Unit. Amanda, your smile lit up a room. Your heart poured with love for your family. Your struggle has ended. Give Granny a great big hug from us. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name may be made to the St. Boniface Hospital.
