Obituary of Garry Alan Stevenson

Garry was born in Winnipeg on September 19, 1961, the youngest of 3 sons. He was a private person, kind and generous. He loved animals (especially dogs, but was very fond of cats as well), took pleasure in going to garage sales and auctions, liked reading and the colour black, and enjoyed trying out new recipes. He was very proud of his Icelandic heritage. Following a 30 year plus career as a butcher with Canada Safeway, Garry retired in 2019. He was predeceased by his niece Jessica Dawn Stevenson in 1997; his beloved mother Borghildur Maria “Bertha” (Gunnlaugson) Stevenson in 2012; his brother Richard David “Rick” Stevenson in 2017; and his long-time partner Trevor Simmons in 2020. He is survived by his older brother Don Stevenson and his wife Debbie, and other relatives. Garry had not been in good health in the last few years. He passed away in Winnipeg on June 10, 2020, at 59 years of age. Garry did not want a funeral service. He has been cremated, and his ashes will be spread at one of his favourite places.
