We were saddened to hear ofAlex’s passing. Our condolences go to Scotty and lisa and their families and all Alex’s friends.
We worked together as a department of the City of winnipeg all our working careers.Alex was a hard worker always ready to lend a hand as our only heating mechanic. He was instrumental in establishing an apprenticeship program that allowed many of our guys to get their gas tickets
He was the driving force of our baseball team the BeeClean Stingers . LOOK OUT when Alex came to bat if he didn’t knock it out of the park he’d run you over rounding the bases. I think he even wore his cowboy boots when he played.
He and his partner Bert McGimpsey were responsible for the maintenance of all the boilers, roof top units etc. In our portfolio which at times was over 200 buildings!!!
All of us will miss ghe crib games, stories of his children and the family he loved. Rest In Peace buddy. The retired employees of the Civic Properties Mechanican shop for the City of Winnipeg

My condolences to Lisa and Scott and their families. Lisa and I went through elementary, junior high and high school together and had many many sleepovers! I remember meeting her dad and even going to Brandon with her to visit her Grandma. Lisa I’m so sorry for your loss but your dad will always be in your heart.

Condolences to Alex’s family and friends.
I had the pleasure of working with Alex at the City of Winnipeg.
His willingness to always step up and help and share his vast knowledge with me and his coworkers certainly make my work life easer.
RIP Alex

Twenty years ago this November I met my friend Alex Skene. The first time we met I knew we would become best friends, and best friends we were! Alex had many journeys in his life and some of them I had the privilege to go along with him. On one particular journey he went to Brandon and I went along. I had the pleasure of meeting his mother and her pet rabbit which surprisingly lived in her home and was very well trained. It was also the house Alex grew up in so it was extra special journey for me.
Once a year Alex would travel to Lac du Bonnet and spend good times with Sandy and I and our good friends Darla, Hal and Jaylene. This year he couldn't make that journey and we were all very sad.
There are so many good memories and special times I shared with Alex. My most fond memory though is just Alex and I shooting the shit over a cup of coffee or beer (of course). I am really missing you Alex as you begin your next journey. One day we will meet again.
My thoughts are prayers are with Lisa, Paul and Scott.
Love your friend Larry.
