Obituary of Maureen Fay Noordman
Peacefully, with the love of her family by her side, Maureen Fay Noordman (née Morris) passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020.
Born in Winnipeg, Maureen attended Inkster Elementary School and St. John’s High School. At the age of fifteen she met the love of her life, Harry, whom she married six years later at Westminster United Church. Their love for each other would continue for 55 wonderful years.
Maureen and Harry often went camping where she developed her love for the outdoors. She instilled this love in her children when they started a family. Many trips to Rushing River and Grand Beach over the years resulted in Harry building the family cottage in Belair, Manitoba. Time spent at the cottage was enjoyed by spending the days and evenings relaxing at Lester Beach with her book, berry picking, fishing, bird watching and many walks exploring the outdoors with her three kiddos always in tow. Maureen enjoyed her time there, raising her three children and making cherished family memories.
After a long career with Woolco/Walmart, Maureen took her exceptional customer service skills to The Northwest Company where she was a valued receptionist and Human Resource Assistant. Maureen’s sunny demeanor made her a favourite among staff. She made many friends wherever she went, treasuring them always.
Maureen had a passion for gardening and her beautiful flower beds filled her with great pride and were the envy of the neighbourhood. She was a houseplant hobbiest and many people across North America often sought her advice. It was Maureen’s natural maternal care that made everything she touched flourish.
There is nothing that Maureen would not do for her family and she was always happiest with them. She was immensely proud of her children and had enduring bonds with each of her grandchildren who she especially enjoyed spoiling and spending time with. No one will ever forget her warmth and kindness.
Maureen is survived by her husband Harry; son Daniel (Tabitha), son Derek; and daughter Dayna (Adam). She is also survived by her brother Ron Morris in Kamloops, BC. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Ethan, Emersyn, Declan and Elle, and great-grandchild Ryden.
Maureen was predeceased by her mother Nora Morris (Huntbach); father William Morris and grandson Ayron Noordman.
The family gives thanks for all the kind messages, cards, food, flowers & phone calls they have received from Maureen’s family, lifelong friends, and co-workers. We are forever grateful to nurse “Chatterbox” from the WRHA Palliative Care Team. Her kindness and compassion are unparalleled and will never be forgotten by the family.
At Maureen’s request, no funeral service will be held and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date.
Cherish every moment that you have with the people you love.
