Obituary of Shirley Joyce Tokash

Our beloved mom, Shirley Tokash was granted her angel wings on December 26, 2020 at 10:45 p.m. at Holy Family Home at age of 73 years. Mom will be greatly missed by her husband of 55 years Danny; daughters Tammy Tokash (Scott), Kelly Spulnick (George); grandchildren Jason, Amanda (Jared), Kristen, Melissa, Amber (Dave), Braden (Lisa); great grandchildren Nevaeh and Ciarra; and numerous family and friends. Mom was predeceased by her parents Jean and Nick Zulak; brother Morris; and sisters Sally and Nancy. Born in 1947 and raised in Ethelbert, Manitoba, she later moved to Winnipeg where she met her husband Danny. They were married on August 14, 1965 and had two daughters, Tammy in 1966 and Kelly in 1968. Mom worked at Paulin Chambers for many years, Morden’s Chocolates and finally, as a homecare attendant. Mom loved gardening, cooking, bingo, the cottage and of course family; Not in that order, but close. The cottage, a place mom loved so much, always with Emily waiting on the driveway on Friday evenings to get the party started! Family and friends having a singsong around the bonfire, drinks in hand with dad and Mers playing the guitar. Those are the memories we will cherish. Special Thanks to Auntie Jan, and Uncles Reg and Nestor for being there to help with mom and dad for the last ten years. Also, to HSC Dialysis and to Holy Family Home for the excellent care mom received. Mom, you fought so long and hard. You faced many obstacles, yet you never ceased to amaze us with your resilience. Even covid didn't take you down. But you were getting tired, rest peacefully. Cremation has taken place, due to Covid, a family celebration will take place when safe to do so.
