Gordon Coulter

Obituary of Gordon Wesley Coulter

Peacefully at home, on Wednesday July 3, 2019, Gordon Wesley Coulter, loving husband and father, passed away at the age 74. Gordon was born in Russell, MB on March 22, 1945, to Emily and Russ Coulter.  He grew up on the family farm with his parents and three older brothers, Gavin (deceased), David, Angus.

After he left the family farm he pursued a career as a heavy duty mechanic which was something he excelled in. On July 11, 1987 he married Marleen Ann Walker at their home in Marquette MB, and had a wonderful 32  years together. They raised two amazing children, daughter Heather and son Brian.

Gordon was a hardworking, talented man. In his earlier years he was an avid hang glider and loved being on his boat. He had a passion for waterskiing,  wind surfing, and traveling in his camper van all over North America. Everyone knows he had a huge passion for  the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, had been a season ticket member for 40+ years and got to meet his favourite player Ken Ploen for his birthday last year.

Throughout his life he had a passion for winter and snowmobiling, having many Arctic Cat sleds.  He could always be found around the farm, on his John Deere tractor, keeping  the grass cut and the yard looking so clean. Weekends you'd find him sitting on his Bomber bench on the dike looking over the river. The last few years his love for farming has been passed down to Brian who has expanded the farm under his dads watchful eye and guidance into a productive sheep and egg farm. He was known for his love of the oldies music, his funny dance moves and his idol Elvis Presley.  He was a great neighbor, friend, and mentor. His smile was infectious and he was always willing to share his knowledge with anyone who asked.

Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Russ, his mother, Emily, his brother Gavin and nephew Dean. He is survived by his wife Marleen, his two children Heather and Brian, his brothers David (Barbara) and Angus, nephews Allan (Pauline), Gavin, Dallas (Kerri), niece Diane (Jody) and their families,  aunt Janet Angus and several cousins and their families.
