Gerald Mikolash

Obituary of Gerald Robert Mikolash

With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Garry Mikolash on December 19, 2021 after a brief illness. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family. He is survived by his beloved wife Irene of 58 years, his daughters Michele (John), Charlene (Ian) and Shelley (Daniel); grandchildren Cody (Courtney), Kylee, Evan, Nicholas, Matthew, Brynna and Isabel; great grandchild Drew; brothers-in-law Tom and Eric; and nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Gertrude and Jacob; his siblings Eleanor, Ralph, Bob, Jim, Jack and Dorothy. Garry loved spending time with his grandchildren. From cheering them on at baseball and hockey games to playing endless games of hide and seek, Garry remained incredibly active and present in their lives. Garry loved the outdoors, never refusing a good campfire and taking his long daily walks around the neighbourhood or in the hot sun in Mexico. Garry and Irene loved spending time with their friends, having weekly coffee at Sals. More friendships were made when they began their yearly trips to Mexico, where Garry would spend hours basking in the sun. He will be forever remembered for his quick wit, sense of humour and kind heart. Special thanks to Dr. Michael L. Cummings, and the Home Palliative Care Program. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Marks Church at 19 St. Marks Place or the Canadian Cancer Society. A Limb has fallen from our Family Tree But please do not be sad for me. Remember all the Good Times Filled with laughter and Song, A life fully Blessed when I was Strong, You may feel that I have gone away, but I’m still beside you everyday. Due to Covid Restrictions, a Funeral service will be held at a later date.
