l was comming off nights at Sherbrook CO and Doug was comming on as my replacement. he showed up his first night carrying a nicely crafted wooden tool box. i complemented him on his craftmanship. a few days later he presented me with a wooden tool box that had several vertical slots to hold the various small bell system tools needed to maintain stepxstep switches. i proudly used that tool box the rest of my years in MTS switchrooms. Sometimes things are easier to bear when you know friends care.
We had a wonderful friendship with Doug and Lorraine all their years while visiting Arizona. The mountains we climbed, the ghost towns we explored, picnics always along the way. We felt young again and lived life together happier than ever expected - the four of us together.
“We are in God’s hand.”
Sincerely and deepest sympathy

To Uncle Doug
Here’s to teaching me the value of a spotless car( which I still keep) our Jeopardy games , and family dinners on Burnaby Bay which were the best of times. Your kind soul, big smile and calm demeanour will be sadly missed. Hope you’ve found my Dad and the two of you are enjoying a beer and listening to Patsy Klein together and getting into just a little bit of trouble lol ❤️Love always Penny and John

Heartfelt condolences to the Klippel Family
This obituary highlighted all of Douglas's attributes! He was gentle, kind and humble with a lovely smile and a twinkle in his eyes.My husband was a lifetime friend of Douglas, was a member of his wedding party and became Lorraine's driving instructor.Following my marriage to Alfred, I became acquainted with the two of them and found Douglas so amiable and easy to get to know. Both Douglas and Alfred were blessed with similar strokes as they were knowledgeable, skillful and helpful in repairs of all kinds ----it must have been the Transcona water!
May our Good Lord surround you with His comfort and healing to all the Klippel family!

My condolences to Lorraine and family . I wish I could have met him on the ski hills in Lake Tahoe . Best regards Ted Scoles

Condolences to the Klippel family. I was very fortunate to work with Doug when he was our Eastern Region Manager at MTS. He was a great boss and very considerate of all his staff. He was one of the good ones and I certainly respected Doug.
