Dear Irene … Rachel, Andrew & the entire family,
Just a short note to say how very sorry we were to hear of Johnny-O’s passing & to send our sincere condolences to you, Irene … & your whole family. This is such a beautiful & touching obituary… what a wonderful celebration of John’s amazing life! John brought joy & laughter into all of our lives & enriched us all by his presence, didn’t he … with his love of books, of music, of people & of life! What a beautiful gentle soul he was! The world just won’t be quite the same without his presence in it & my goodness, what a void John will leave in all of our lives … but, he has left us all with so many amazing memories of our time with him over these many years. He was truly dearly loved! I remember well when John was at Mary Scorer in Osborne Village … Tony would often plan a Brunch Bunch get-together nearby & we’d pop in & visit … what a wonderful welcoming atmosphere John created in that space! We will also cherish our many memories of John & remember him with a smile. Once again, extending to you our deepest sympathies. You’re in our thoughts! … xoxo Aline & John

Sincere condolences to Irene and the rest of the family John so dearly loved.
John was a friend of our family and it was a joy when he came to visit us at Ingolf thru the years. He would bring his guitar with a wealth of songs and stories to share. We we’re always amazed at how much he knew about music singers and books. We learned something new every time! Put on music and he would right away know who wrote the song and who sang it!
More than once if we were stuck on a music question we would phone him up and with no hesitation he would give us the answer. We also had great times with him at the Folk Festival visiting the Home Made Music tent and campfires back at the campground.
The day Irene and John were married at the farm was perfect! What a celebration in their yard so beautifully decked out for the occasion with clear blue skies and so much love in the air!
As with so many others we miss you Johnny. Thanks for the memories . Rest In Peace my friend.

My thoughts and prayers go out all those who knew, loved and will always fondly remember John. My fondest memory of John is a day just the two of us drove out to Minaki and rented a boat to go Fishin. Joining us out in the middle of the lake, in one of those Kodak moments, was a mother Loon placidly cruising along with three babies parked on her back going along for a ride. There was a fourth that took turns budging the third off and taking turns hitching a ride. We didn't catch much in the way of fish, but we did catch up on what we were doing with our lives. On the way home late, we stopped in at that roadside restaurants with the waterfall indoors. They served monster burger that had so much fillings they bring it open face. One burger patty each side bacon both sides, onions, cheese and a fried egg. The owners kids were at the counter waiting to go home with their parents, so for their entertainment I brought the two halves together and made one whole mess of the burger and my face trying not to successfully to cram it down my gullet. I think it was enjoyed as much by the onlookers as the ingester. Will keep this and many more reminiscences of John and his circle of friends and film.
