Obituary of Matthew James Cyr
Sadly, on August 3, 2022, at the age of 36, we suffered the tremendous loss of our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, and most importantly, dad, Matthew James Cyr.
Matthew was born on September 2, 1985. He was well known and loved by many people everywhere, but Fort Rouge is where his roots were. Matthew had amazing spirit and was stubborn and strong willed. Matthew wanted to live. Unfortunately, his strength was no match for the addiction that touched and his life for many years.
Matthew made many good efforts to get clean and had a huge support network behind him. His family and his partner Santana, who he loved and who supported him in his fight. He strived to be a good role model to his son, Nathan, who he loved dearly. Although it cannot be said for sure if overdose is what took Matthew’s life, his lifestyle inevitably did.
To anyone out there touched by addiction in any way, you are not alone. Reach out. You are loved.
Matthew will forever be remembered for the cutest little boy he was, for his massive friend network as a teen, and his love and kindness as a man. For his laugh that was so contagious, and all of the amazing memories made along the years. For the love he had for his son and his family and friends.
We choose to remember Matthew for who he was, not for his addictions, as we know that’s what he would have wanted.
Rest In Peace. Forever loved.
