It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and friend Joseph Linard Prysizney of Winnipeg on September 20, 2022, at the age of 79 years old.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Eva; daughter and son-in-law Bonnie and Denis Pescitelli; grandchildren Tyler and Kaylee; brothers Alvin, Gordy (Lovie), and Larry (Marge); sister-in-law Lill; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, and friends.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Amelia; brother Ed; sisters Mary and Bernice; sisters-in-law Wendy and Carolyn.
Joe was born and raised in Komarno, Manitoba on the family farm. In high school he excelled at sports, running track and playing football earning the nickname Goalpost Joe. At the age of 17 he moved to Winnipeg and worked for Perth’s eventually working up the ranks to manage his own store. Then he moved on to work at Motorcoach Industries followed by Shopost Iron Works. There he worked as a welder, truck driver, and crane operator until his retirement in 2010.
Joe loved nothing more than time with his family. Whether it was countless road trips across Canada and the USA or fishing trips with his brothers. He enjoyed getting together and making lifelong memories. Some of his favourite vacations were to Jasper, Tofino, Clear Lake, Calgary, and Jamaica. Joe was looking forward to relaxing by the ocean in an upcoming family vacation to Mexico. He dabbled in many hobbies over his lifetime excelling at many. Painting, golfing, fishing, curling, and archery are just a few examples. One of his passions (before and after retirement) was his yard and garden. His backyard was his sanctuary. He took great pride tending to it and showing it off to everyone. Joe had an incredible love of nature, especially walks in the woods picking mushrooms. He, also, was famously known in the neighbourhood for very regularly washing his car. Joe always had great conversations and would make friends wherever he went. He was always more than willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Joe married the love of his life, Eva in 1963. Throughout their live together they faced many challenges and joys always supporting each other. Joe was a dedicated, loving father to Bonnie. He was an incredible grandfather to Tyler and Kaylee always taking great pride in all that they did.
A giant hole has been left in our hearts and lives. Our shock and sadness are overwhelming. We find comfort in so many amazing memories and love that will last throughout time. We are so fortunate to have had you in our lives.
Honourary pallbearers are Denis, Tyler, and Kaylee Pescitelli and Alvin, Larry, Gordy, Ian, Shayne, and Ron Prysizney.
