Carol-Ann Gillis posted a condolence

So sorry to hear about the passing of John. He was my son's father-in-law and he and Stephen had a very special relationship. Stephen thought of him as a father and not just a "father-in-law". He was an awesome grandpa to my grandkids Abigail and Isaac and I know they loved him deeply and will miss him greatly. Condolences to Vicki, Heather, Stephen, Abigail, Isaac and all the rest of the Lake family. RIP John. Carol-Ann Gillis

So much to say about John. Met when we were teenagers, classmates from Jr High to Graduation. The crazy things we did: , getting our drivers license,. Endless debates about everything, do it yourself haircuts, using Root Beer Koolaid as mix. Mararthon games of hearts. Many. many stories to relate. And when we recall them you will be with us again. In Adulthood, we went from friends to family. You married Vicky and I married her sister Wendy. Raised an awesome family, you did well my friend. Rest in Peace. John and Wendy Panting.

My deepest sympathies to Vicky and the entire Lake family. I was privileged as friend of Barbara's and a neighbour on Monreith St. to know the Lake family, and have spent many weekends as a young teen at their cabin at Bird Lake. I recall John's passion for fishing, many late nights playing cribbage, and John just being the annoying older brother..in a fun way. Rest in Peace John.
