Obituary of Rose (Kopys) Leneal

Rose Janis Leneal of Elmwood District in Winnipeg, passed unexpectedly at her home on January 29, 2023.

Rose was born on May 21, 1946 in Winnipeg, the first child of Michael and Pearl Kopys. 

Upon graduating from Elmwood Secondary, she held various employment for many years in clerical and office assistant roles.

Rose was predeceased by her mother Pearl (Oleksyn) Kopys at age 103 years on August 17, 2021; her father Michael John Kopys in 1975; her younger sister Linda Mae Kopys Moon on June 19, 2008; all in Winnipeg.  Her maternal grandparents were Elena (Nemish) Oleksyn and Andrew Oleksyn of St. Julien (Wakaw), Saskatchewan.  Paternal grandparents were Ilya Alex Kopys and Anna Kopys of Fisher Branch, Manitoba. 

Rose is survived by her brother-in-law Terry Moon (Linda’s spouse).  Also, numerous cousins across Canada and beyond.

A graveside service will be held on August 23, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in Glen Eden Cemetery, West St. Paul, Manitoba with Rev. Phil Read officiating. 

Cremation by Alterna Cremation of East St. Paul, Manitoba.

Rose joins her beloved mother Pearl at Glen Eden.  May she rest in God’s loving care.
