Obituary of Jarmila Maria Palicka

It is with great sadness that we announce Jarmila Maria Palicka passed away unexpectedly on March 14, 2023 due to an unrelenting covid infection. She was surrounded by love at the time of her passing. Left to cherish Jarmila’s memory is her beloved husband Karol (56 years of marriage); daughters Jarmila Ratz (Brian) and Alexandra Miller (Sean); grandchildren Kenzie and Gavin Miller; her brother Milan Galovic (Marie) and their families in the USA; in Slovakia, brother-in-law Vrato Palicka (Maruska) and their families; and many cousins, aunts and uncles. Jarka was born in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia in 1947 and came to Canada as a young bride with a six- month old in 1968. She built a wonderful life with her husband Karol, daughters Jackie and Alex. Her greatest love was her grandchildren. Mom had a love of gardening and animals, caring for others, and cooking for us all. Her traditional Christmas baking skills were admired by everyone. An in-person/virtual celebration of life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either Manitoba Cancer Care or HeartLife Foundation of Canada in her name.
