Obituary of Skip Gagnon

On the afternoon of Thursday April 20, 2023, our dad, brother, husband and friend Rodney Skip Gagnon, lost his fight against his ongoing health conditions. Skip passed peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg surrounded by his loved ones. Skip is survived by his long-term partner, and true love, Christine McKay; and both of his children, Tiara and Rylan Gagnon. Skip is predeceased by both of his biological parents, Verna Thompson and Ted Delaronde; and both of his adopted parents Gabrielle and Lucien Gagnon. Skip was born Calvert Joseph Delaronde on December 27, 1962 in Winnipegosis, Manitoba. In May of 1969 Skip was adopted by the Gagnon’s and given his name Rodney Skip Gagnon. In the 1980s Skip reconnected with his birth family. Skip always took pride in both of his families, loving them both equally. Skip loved nothing more than spending quality time with his friends and family, whether it was traveling, watching sports, mud bogging, or just enjoying good food and conversation. Skip was always up for a game of donuts, dice, crib, or crokinole. He was known for his sense of humor, witty comebacks, funny Facebook posts and his willingness to help anyone in need. Skip leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity and a true passion for life will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, and all who knew him. His kind and gentle spirit, infectious smile, and warm personality have touched countless lives and will forever be remembered. A celebration of life will be held on Friday May 5, 2023, at 2:00pm at Gaffer’s Restaurant and Lounge in Lockport MB. Rest in peace, Dad.
