So very sorry for your loss, Trish and family. Jim was an energetic go-getter, and I'll always remember the encouragement that he gave out to students at Tec Voc High School. I will also remember how much love and devotion he showed to his family. May you hold your memories close during this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to Trish and family. Jim was one of the most genuine people I have ever met, an excellent teacher, a true leader, and a caring person. I've had the pleasure of working with Jim and Trish at Tec Voc High School where I witnessed firsthand the welcoming and caring atmosphere that they created for their Graphic Arts students. Whether it meant providing extra support to help a student find their way or spending lunch hours together with their students, they always created a sense of family. When I visited Jim in the hospital, I saw the many gifts that were there from former students, a true testament in itself. Jim was also an excellent Theatre Tech teacher, extremely knowledgeable, and always solving challenges in a professional and calm manner. Also, a talented musician, Jim and his students worked with many of our music students over the years, creating excellent brandings for rock concerts, t-shirts, posters, and CD covers, many of which still adorn the music department.
Thank you for sharing your life with us Jim,
You will be missed.

Jim was the salt of the earth; his generosity of spirit and time were unbounded. Every year since my boy turned 6 or 7 he and Trish would create a banner for his birthday. One year it was Spider-Man, another year it was the Raptors. Jim and Trish were always part of the celebration. He helped Geordie and I coach the JV Hornets and it was always fun talking over the game with Jim. His loss is greatly felt. Rest In Peace.

I first met Trish & Jim while completing my Vocational Teacher Education at RRC and they had a still young Graphic Arts Department at Tec Voc High School. The combined passion, knowledge, determination, and creativity these two had as a married team was always an inspiration. Students flocked to Trish & Jim for these qualities and a fun, safe, inclusive environment. Jim’s humility while being his teacher-wife’s education assistant and being a pivotal role and leader to students and staff in the theatre with his knowledge, instruction, and orchestration of the Tec Voc theatre’s lighting, etc. It didn’t stop there…football coach, side projects for teachers…computer IT help…these two even joined my husband and I for dinner at our home and helped me when transitioning from PC to Mac.
I’ve shared step-parenting struggles and received “free” and compassionate support as have my two stepsons…in fact the Goldrups have definitely been like an additional set of parents to our sons and their son is a cherished and very dear friend of both boys (now young men).
Jim was a human being who truly cared. Trish and Jim have been and will always be legends at Tec Voc and in the hundreds of lives they’ve touched. Trish…your loss is so deep and our hearts hurt for you. You will be surrounded by love and Jim will never be forgotten. ❤️

I wasn't opportuned to know Jim for long. It was less than a year ago that I got to meet him. In that short time, I enjoyed all our conversations. We discussed lots and I was in awe of his knowledge about everything. His 'hey buddie' way of greeting me will stay with me forever. His advise when I had some challenges is priceless. I'm honored to have met you, even though I wish you were still here so i can stop by for more great conversations.
Rest in Peace Jim. You will be missed.

Mr & Mrs. G are second parents to me and this loss is very hard. They were always there for the good and bad times, and most importantly they were helping to shape me into the person I am today. I am forever grateful and will miss my second dad so much. I wish we had more time but I know he is at peace, and that is what I will hold onto. Forever their “adopted” daughter <3

Hugs to you Victoria. I know this impacts so many students such as yourself. I witnessed so many students’ bonds and experiences while substitute teaching in graphics along side “Mr. G”. It was a favorite department to substitute teach as the students were all so happy there and I felt like I was with a big family! You were one of them!
