I lived far from Carol (and the rest of my Winnipeg family) but I remember many a visit with her, Viola, and Irwin when they visited us in Ontario. Those visits were always filled with lots of laughter and it was always fun to hear Carol’s characteristic laugh or an “oh!” with a swat/wave of her hand when things got a little… outlandish.
After moving to California she was a “connector” - always great about keeping in touch, taking a keen interest in everything going on in my life and keeping me up to date on everything going on with my extended family in Winnipeg. It had been almost 20 years since I had seen Carol until I visited Winnipeg last year. Although time had changed us all, she was still the Carol I remembered. Inquisitive, funny, silly, happy to laugh, and to reminisce and explore our shared family history.
She was unique and I’ll miss her greatly.

Carol was "the Aunt" we grew up knowing and loving. I lived in Calgary and we would have a mix of a large volume of presents coming in the post; or Carol visiting for a few days to enjoy our many pets. After we moved to Winnipeg in 1989; Carol with her mother Viola were frequently visited in various apartments to watch TV and share laughs. Carol bought her condo shortly after her mother passed and lived happily with her cats. The photo is from her retirement in 2008. She enjoyed bowling and I was in a league with her for at couple seasons that were full of fun, excitement, with always outstanding dinners at season end to hand out trophies, have a great meal, and prizes ($$$). She bowled often in more than one league, and was always excited to go to her weekly dance classes. More recently I would drive Carol to visit with her sister, and it allowed time for good conversations.

Carol was my auntie. She will be greatly missed. Carol was (and is) a loving, kind soul. She adored her family and I have great memories of her visits when we lived in Calgary as young children before we moved to Winnipeg. She had a great giggle and was fun to joke with. My siblings and I recently had a dinner with her at Salisbury House, where we laughed throughout our meal, and all commented after what fun we had.
Love you Carol.

Carol worked with us at the Winnipeg Production Centre from 1997 to 2010. Carol was our Admin assistant and helped keep the production centre humming along. You never know how much an admin assistant helps until they're gone, and everyone here appreciated Carol's contributions.
Carol was always upbeat and always had something to say. We will never forget Paper Clip Gate, an inside joke and we will never forget Carol.
Rest in Peace Carol. You left us much too early.

I see Carol clearly in my mind. Her sweet smile and giggle as her adult nephews and nieces tease her over some silly thing. Waving her hand to shoo us all away from making our silly jokes. Carol, though quiet, loved her family (near and far) very much. Growing up in Calgary (my mom is her sister, Dona) we had a large parcel delivered from Winnipeg every Christmas with presents for all the kids -- and taped up so well (completely covered!) that we couldn't possibly peak! She would visit her sister and her family regularly from Winnipeg and would be been thrilled when we all moved to Winnipeg in 1988. I am happy to share the love of animals that Carol has so I always welcomed a tale (tail?) of her babies' antics and personalities. I have a great respect for Carol as she was so independent. She had a wonderful career of 35(!) years with the RCMP. She bused everywhere she had to go 365 days a year. I never heard her complain. She loved the old classic movies (as do my mom and dad) and she was very happy in her quiet home with her furry family. We miss you Carol!

My memories of Carol are of a caring older cousin, respected and loved niece of my grandmother, Carol’s Aunt Alma. Carol’s accomplishments were often shared with pride by Uncle Irwin and Aunt Vi during my visits with them at Victoria Beach. I am deeply saddened by the news of her loss.

I am so very saddened to hear of Carol's passing. I have known Carol for 40 years, I worked with her at the RCMP and continued our relationship with our shared love of animals. Carol adopted Tawney and Cuddles from the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter and they could not have found a more loving home. Carol was one of the kindness people that I ever had the pleasure of calling a friend. I never heard her ever say an unkind word to anyone and she always was so pleasant to talk to. I know that Heaven has found another angel, she was certainly one here on earth. My deepest condolences to her family. I will miss her.
