Obituary of Todd Gregory Bairstow
After bravely facing the challenges of myotonic muscular dystrophy, Todd Bairstow peacefully departed for his eternal home on January 8, 2024. He is survived by his cherished son, Charlie Bairstow, beloved daughter, Jillian Bairstow, and his father, Douglas Bairstow (Ellen). Todd leaves behind a legacy embraced by his siblings: Heidi Poetker (Phil), Brenda Park (Shawn), Scott Bairstow, Jeffrey Bairstow (Jolene), along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his loving mother, Diane Bairstow, grandparents Harry and Phyllis Bairstow, Walter and Carolyn Lehmann.
Having graduated from the SRSS in 1984, Todd initially thrived in the realm of retail sales and management. Later, he sought new horizons by pursuing a career in Geotechnical Engineering, demonstrating his determination and passion for growth.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Todd was celebrated by close friends for his zest for life and adventurous spirit. As a devoted father, his time was often spent fostering a loving relationship with his children. His love of golf was shared with his father and son Charlie. Todd found joy in sharing the post-game camaraderie at the 19th hole, where laughter and stories flowed freely. When he wasn’t on the golf course, he could be found relaxing on his porch or enjoying a good movie.
A beacon of positivity, Todd’s infectious spirit endeared him to all he encountered. He possessed a remarkable ability to connect with anyone, and his relatable, humorous nature made him an instant favorite among friends and strangers alike. Todd’s vibrant approach to life was evident in his unwavering cheerfulness; there was never a day where he allowed setbacks to dampen his spirits. Instead, he embraced every situation, making the best out of life with a heart of gold that radiated warmth and inclusivity to all.
Todd’s too-soon departure leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed, but the memories of his boundless positivity and genuine kindness will forever live on in our hearts.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Ten Ten Sinclair Housing and St. Joseph’s Residence for their wonderful care and support.
A summer celebration of life and internment is being planned.
