Obituary of Joyce Vera Jones

Joyce Vera Jones age 78 passed away on January 26, 2024 at Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie.

Mom was born on December 1, 1945 to Emily and William Forkutza.

Joyce is survived by her daughters Elizabeth (Ken) Wettlaufer of Portage, Sharon Mutch of Winnipeg; grandchildren Amanda (Mark) Kostas of Winnipeg, Josh (Elysia) of Portage, Rue Eldertree of Vancouver, Jesse, Amanda and family of Alberta; step grandson Ben (Kassandra) and family of Alberta.  She is also survived by her brother Ken (Linda) Forkutza of Kamloops; nephews Glenn (Sharon and son Charlie) Forkutza of Kamloops and Geoff (Anne) Forkutza of Vancouver.

Joyce is predeceased by her mother Emily in 1984; father William in 2002; sister Alice in 1993; her son Carl in 2019; and step-grandson Jeff in 2010.

Mom went to Gracefield School Gr. 1-5 in Lake Francis, then the family moved to Petrel, MB. Mom worked as a waitress for some time. Then after having us three kids she was a stay at home Mom.  She helped Grandma with gardening and other household chores. Mom made many friendships throughout her life. Mom’s joy was her family, especially her kids and grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 1125 Saskatchewan Ave., Portage la Prairie with reception to follow.  Interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery.
