Obituary of Marie Paule Rivard

With heavy hearts we announce that our beloved mother, grandma and great-grandma, Marie Paule Rivard peacefully passed away at Victoria Hospital on March 29, 2024 with family by her side at the age of 101.

Marie was predeceased in life by her beloved husband Oliver.

Left to cherish her memory are her 12 children, Raynald (late wife Lucille) Rivard, Trish (Alec) Honke, Rose-Marie (Doug) Komar, Donald (Linda) Rivard, Denis Rivard, Laurel (Serena) Rivard, Maurice Rivard, Harold (Leanne) Rivard, Gisele (Tim) Prefontaine, Claude Rivard, Robert Rivard, Allan (Robin) Rivard; 28 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; four sisters, Armelle, Aline, Yvette and Gisele; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

The eldest of nine children, Mom was born on March 11, 1923, in St. Agathe to Philippe and Rose-Marie Gauthier. She married Oliver Rivard on October 10, 1946, and moved to Ste. Eustache where they started their family. Mom was proud of her home and family. Mom always made us her priority and was always there for us. She never complained about anything and knew what she needed to do to take care of her family. She was an incredible homemaker (sewing, knitting, cooking, baking, cleaning) she did it all. Whenever there was a family event Mom loved it when her sons would come and whisk her off her feet for dancing. As the family got older mom worked part-time at Fabricland which she truly enjoyed as it was one of her passions.

Mom and Dad enjoyed travelling together, to Mexico, Hawaii, Texas, California, and camping in Warren Minnesota. They made many friends and lifelong memories as snowbirds.

As per Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service. She will be interred with Oliver at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

Mother, you left us beautiful memories.
