I'm sending my sympathy to Joan's family on the loss of their Mother/Grandmother.
Joan and I go back a long way in friendship many years ago. My Son Glenn who was a little boy then
is 45 years now and remembers her well.
We attended Christian Life Assembly and Calvary Temple together for many years.
Joan and I had so much fun over the years....taking in Red River Ex annually and loving those Bison Burgers
She took me yearly to Gimli to introduce me to her Icelandic Heritage via the Icelandic Festivals and took me
to visit her relatives who were living there too.
Who couldn't have fun at the Christmas gatherings with friends at the Wilkes residence with Joan and Calvin.
and I was there the day they moved from Wilkes to McKay Avenue.
I met Nancy before we took in Shakespeare in the Park and we both loved it.
Also met Randy and Marta as well and met the rest of the family at Calvin's funeral gathering.
Over the years we lost touch...but I embrace the fun times Joan and I had together.
One thing I know for sure and that is this: The Sun rose and set around all the Grandchildren. Every time we
got together Joan spoke of them...and wanted God's Best for each of them.
May our Our Heavenly Father Embrace your family in Unity and His Peace as you gather and remember your Mom/Grandma Joan
My deepest Sympathy...Orrasia (Rish) Mabbutt

Joan and Calvin and their family have been like our family for many decades beginning at E.K. Baptist Church since the 60’s. I often thought of Joan many times including just today when we passed the block on Henderson. I’m saddened to hear of her home going but joyful at the same time. She has joined my mom, who just went home in May, Calvin and my dad. My thoughts and sympathy are with each of you. Sherry Sorensen Funk.

I would like to share how thoughtful my sister Joan was, when I lived in Gimli had a severe shoulder injury and Joan made sure that I had food by perparing small meals and putting them in the freezer for me to have for a week, she also did the same for out aunt Evelyn for many years as well as taking her into her home during her last years.. She will be missed by a lot of people.
