I first met Susan in 1985. I was dating her friend Evelyn and I was invited to the Super Bowl party at Susan's home. That was the first time Susan met me. I think Susan was a little hesitant about my intentions and had Evelyn's best interests at heart. I think she formed her opinion of me in five minutes. I didn't pass. However when Ev and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary Susan said she had to apologize to me. Initially she didn't 'think it would last'. We both laughed. No apology was needed and I appreciated her honesty, openness, and sense of humor.
Susan wasn't a demonstrative person however I hugged her and told her I loved her every time we met in person or spoke on the phone. Susan tried to put on a tough exterior from time to time but she was a loving, caring, understanding, and sharing friend.
I miss her dearly.

My condolences to Susan's family and friends. We met at the Canadian Wheat Board and she decided within 5 minutes whether she liked you or not! Fortunately, she liked me. We had many laughs together and shared a trip to Dallas to meet with our friend Carol Mullin. Good times were had by all. In recent years, we kept touch by phone with hour long phone calls. We'd always end with Susan telling me "you never stopped talking ; I could hardly get a word in edgewise". LOL! Susan will be missed.

My heart goes out to Susan’s family. I was blessed to be friends with Susan for nearly 40 years. We met at the Canadian Wheat Board, where we took our first of many road trips together. Each one was filled with crazy adventures and we always managed to encounter eccentric people. After Susan was unable to travel, we recounted our trips with the humor and wit that Susan was well known for. Of course a visit with Susan wouldn’t be complete without one of her delicious homemade desserts.
I will treasure these memories and Susan’s friendship forever.
Love Carol

To all of Susan's family, I am so sorry for your loss, and share in it. Susan was one of the smartest, funniest, bravest, and best people I know. We were good friends for 45 plus years - that doesn't happen too often. We were terrible at phoning each other through the years, and often laughed about that. In fact, I think I spoke to her more often in the last 10 months than in the last 10 years. It didn't matter - we still cherished our friendship, and got together whenever possible. I will miss her. Rest in peace dear friend.
