Obituary of Wayne Franklin George Smith

It is with heavy heart we announce the passing of Wayne Franklin Smith on August 19, 2023.

Wayne is survived by his wife Kristin; sons Spencer (Arianna) and Brendon (Nicole); daughters Candace (Ryan) and Krysta (Brian); brothers Ken (Kamega) and Jim (Vivian); sisters Dale and Mavis (Jim); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Wayne was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was tough and many a man challenged to “tug on Superman’s cape,” only to lose. He lived his life with an iron fist of conviction and unwavering moral. He touched countless lives with his generosity and humour. He was strong, caring and devoted to those he loved, and his family is proud to say that every decision he made he truly made to benefit his loved ones. He was loved and adored by many and respected by all. Wayne was consistently aspiring and working towards becoming a better version of himself for the sake of his family. Nothing was more important to him than seeing his children succeed and be happy and his dogs well fed.

Wayne’s two dogs Bowie and Ziggy were another highlight of his life, his fur babies, and his love for them was yet another trait his family admired greatly. Wayne often said that he didn’t save Bowie on that frigid winter day, Bowie saved him.

Words cannot describe how heartbroken we are. We all sought his advice and were comforted by his unrelenting support. He was and will always be our rock and guiding light.

There will no public funeral service, as per Wayne’s wishes.
