Obituary of Abe Groening

The family of Abram (Abe) Groening are heartbroken to announce his passing on November 7, 2023 at the age of 83.  Abe was born July 19, 1940 in Chortiz, a small village near Winkler, Manitoba.

He is survived by his beloved wife Mary of 61 years, father of Louella Loughery and son Stacy (Coleen). Proud grandfather of Maria (Tyler), Ashley (David), Tyler and Hannah; and great-grandfather of Abby and Alyssa; his only surviving sibling Eileen Edigar; in-laws; nieces, nephews and dear friends. Abe was predeceased by his son-in-law Cecil Loughery and eight of his nine siblings.

Abe worked as a mechanic for 45 years, retiring from Fountain Tire in 2000. He and Mary were avid travellers to Spain, numerous vacations through the United States and they spent 16 years as snowbirds in Palm Springs.

A funeral service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Chapel, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., November 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm. Cremation has already taken place, care of Alterna Cremation Services.
